£400k Timber Frame Value
42 Number of Homes Built
5 weeks Time on Site
//Project in detail
Pinewood Structures was commissioned by a Major Main Contractor to supply the timber frames for the venture between Kevin McCloud’s development company, Hab, and housing group GreenSquare. The houses were be built to then Code 4 in the Code for Sustainable Homes.
The scheme consisted of two and two-and-a-half storey terraces containing 2, 3, and 4-bedroom homes around a central village green. The east and west terraces were both terminated by three-storey corner blocks, each containing three apartments, providing focal points as you enter and leave the scheme
Pinewood Structures provided the timber frame for this scheme and Hemcrete® was used for the walls.
Tradical Hemcrete is a hemp and lime wall thermal walling system that absorbs CO2 in its manufacture and so has negative embodied CO2. For a typical wall section, the material will have 130kg CO2/m2 less than a similar wall built of brick and block construction.
This project used Hemcrete® walls (site cast Lime and hemp mixture) which needed extensive co-ordination between all parties to overcome design and build challenges, plus had a compressed build time of 5 weeks, which was successfully delivered by Pinewood Structures.
