//Project in detail

Oakgrove is a newly established village just outside Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire. The Commercial Housing Developer Crest Nicholson Regeneration contracted Pinewood Structures for the design, manufacture and erection of timber frames for this project.

Pinewood Structures provided structural timber frames for various different housing types, including 2, 3, 4 & 5 bedroom houses and 1 & 2 bedroom apartments. We have seen this project through all phases of development working to a very strict building regime, made possible by the ease and versatility of using timber frames.  Utilising timber frames on this project minimised weather delays and gave more surety of programme.

For this project we supplied our Quantum 17  pre-insulated closed panel system for phase 1 of the development, taking a ‘fabric first’ approach. This means prioritising insulation and airtightness of houses, instead of installing costly renewables to offset higher energy costs. When completing its SAP Calculations, the Customer was able to utilise the enhanced U-Value offered by the Quantum 17 insulation resulting in optimisation of both costs and performance. Subsequently, Quantum 17 insulation was included in later phases of  the development.
