Pinewood Structures Ltd is pleased to announce the addition of Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) technology to its structural timber frame portfolio. Pinewood will be working closely with its long established supply chain partner Metsä Wood to deliver their Leno CLT product to the UK market.

Geoff Arnold, MD of Pinewood said “This is an exciting addition to our product portfolio. CLT technology is a well-established method of construction in Central Europe and used extensively to deliver exciting and innovative buildings. Our supply chain partner Metsä Wood is highly experienced in CLT and we look forward to growing our business together over the next few years.”

Kevin Riley, Vice President, Construction Industry, Metsä Wood UK, said “We’re looking forward to working with Pinewood Structures to develop the UK market for the Leno CLT product. We have a strong and successful track record working together and this is an obvious next step for both of us to broadening our product offer in the UK”

Leno CLT consists of cross laminating spruce boards to form large panels of solid wood with dimensions of up to 4.8m x 20.0m and from 50mm to 300mm thick. Key attributes of CLT include the ability to span wide areas facilitating both open spaces and architectural flexibility. This makes CLT the ideal technology for the construction of schools and iconic buildings with a high degree of architectural design input. Naturally as the Leno CLT product is manufactured using PEFC sourced spruce softwood, the environmental benefits are clear and will assist in meeting high BREEAM performance targets.
