Construction Operations Manager – One-Roof - Full-time
As part of the next phase of the growth of our One-Roof business we are seeking to appoint a Construction Operations Manager with responsibility for all site focused commercial and construction activities.

The Role

Reporting to the One-Roof Business Unit Manager you will divide your time between the office and site and be responsibe for the procurement of sub-contract installation services and managing the site installation processes and procedures. It will be your responsibility to ensure install teams and cranage are procured in line with project budgets and customer requirements. Managing a large number of sites at any one time you will need to demonstrate exceptional organisational skills and will become an expert in the One-Roof system. You will be responsible for ensuring each plot is ready for install by way of liaising with site managers, undertaking the procedures for pre-install site checks and taking the installation through to QA sign off and hand over to the client.

In addition to reporting to the One-Roof Business Unit Manager, you will also have a reporting line into the Group Construction Director who is ultimately responsible for all H&S site responsibilities.
This is an exciting opportunity for the right person. You will play an essential part in shaping the company’s plans for expansion of the One-Roof business.

Key tasks

  • Organising and participating in prestart site meetings with customer, ensuring customers understand call off procedures, scope of works and site requirements prior to roof installation.
  • Procuring sub-contract installation services and cranes consistent with project budgets.
  • Working with installers, providing training where required prior to commencement on site. This will include ongoing training as and when necessary to ensure the quality of each install.  
  • Compiling and maintaining risk assessments and method statements in conjunction with the Group Construction Director
  • Organizing and planning lifting operations.
  • Liaising with site regarding build program, speed of build and build sequence
  • Managing the sequencing of ancillary/direct to site items in line with site call offs
  • Liaising with site and production to agree suitable install dates once call off request is received
  • Receiving and assessing site managers preinstall checks, raising with technical if any discrepancies
  • Conducting pre-install checks when required, responsible to ensure all site managers fully understand our pre-install requirements.
  • Ensuring projects are completed within the allocated timescale and within budget
  • Managing the handing over of completed roofs to our clients

Candidate Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will be from a background working in a small to medium sized carpentry sub-contract business with responsibility for commercial and construction activities and now looking for a career opportunity with significant future potential.
  • Given this is a new business the candidate will show entrepreneurial characteristics and be enthusiastic, a strong communicator and be willing to do whatever is required to get the job done with a strong focus on delighting the client.
